About Us

We are Newbiggin by the Sea Dolphin Watch Association. We are a voluntary group whose mission is to watch over wild dolphins  and other marine mammals that visit Newbiggin Bay and the surrounding area. We do this by monitoring and recording sightings, reporting sick, injured or stranded animals, and by engaging with the public  in various activities, including  formal and informal watches. For example conducting cetacean  surveys on behalf of Seawatch Foundation. We have an educational programme for all age groups and backgrounds and organise dolphin watches at Church Point during summer months. We  have an annual exhibition  and display as part of the Newbiggin Festival. We participate in local initiatives that support marine conservation and habitat protection. Membership of our Association is free of charge,  though donations towards our work are always gratefully received. A small charge may be made for certain activities but  in this case members will always receive a discount whenever possible. Please scroll through all our website pages, there is something for everybody. Contact us if you have any queries.
